To Create or Not To Create?

To create or not to create? That is the question I face this Halloween season. Last year I created this darling little ballerina costume, you see pictured to the left, for my one year old. She's 2 now and I'm undecided on how to dress her this year. Being the crafty person that I am, my passion is tugging at me to make her the most awesome costume I can think of (even if I have no idea what that is at the moment). But on the other hand, common sense is telling me to just let someone else do all the hard work and pick out something from a retail store.

Last year's ballerina costume was not hard to make at all. I cut appropriate size strips of tulle and knotted them on an elastic band. After creating the no-sew tutu, I purchased the solid pink (no prints or graphics) onesie from Wal-mart to match. I paired that up with white tights and my costume was almost complete. I was lucky enough to find a pair of pink shoes that had the look of ribbon criss-crossing over the front and I used the pink tab behind the ankle to loop matching pink ribbon through and lace up around the lower legs just below the knee. I created a pink and white twisted boutique bow to complete my costume! It was amazing! My little ballerina looked darling!

This year I want to have the same effect. So I'm thinking of creating another no-sew tutu, but with a different theme, possibly Tinkerbell or a Disney princess. This time, though, I'll create a tutu dress. Hmmm.... now the wheels are beginning to turn. Well, I'll keep you posted as to what I decide to create. Because after all, it looks like I just answered my question.
If you'd like to know how to make a no-sew tutu. Contact me. I'll be more than happy to share my knowledge.
